CAROLINGIAN DYNASTY (800-888)
The Merging through marriage of two of the most powerful families of the time, The Pepin and Anulf families, created the Carolingian dynasty. Charles Martel was responsible for forging out the empire through battles and strong Statesmanship and Charlemagne further strengthened what his grandfather had started. The Carolingian dynasty refers to the reign of Charlemagne followed by his sons, until the kindom was eventually divided up to form modern France, Germany and the Low countries.
